11 Obstacles, One Riverfront: The Forge Challenge Is Back
The Forge Challenge II: Reignited is coming up Saturday, Nov. 7, with a new location and 11 obstacles.
In July, the Owensboro Sportscenter hosted Owensboro's very first Forge event. Because the first drew 80 participants, Chris Zachary of Edge Body Boot Camp has organized a second. But, Forge II is moving to an even more scenic location: the Owensboro Convention Center and riverfront downtown.
I was invited to attend a Sunday morning MetCon training at Edge. Chris uses that once-a-week event to help participants train for the Forge. MetCon is short for "metabolic conditioning" and it's a 45-minute workout that will put you to the test.

Here's Chris talking about the weekly MetCon and what to expect at The Forge Challenge II: Reignited.
If you played that clip, you heard me mention Bill. In addition to being the consummate cheerleader for the group, he is also an alumnus of the first Forge, and he's training hard for the second.
Ladies, Forge II is for you as well.

In fact, at my MetCon training, women outnumbered the men. One of them, Dawsie Shelton, took some time to chat with me about her training and experience.
If you're interested in tackling The Forge II in November, here's a look at the layout of exercises you'll be participating in between runs.

During my Sunday morning MetCon workout, we tackled a good sampling of those: rowing, sled push, farmer's carry, lunges, and jump rope. I was a hot and sweaty mess when I finished. But I'll be honest. Once I caught my breath, I felt really good and it was a fantastic way to start my day.

If you'd like to register, you can access the online registration page. There are several divisions: Men's Pro Singles, Women's Pro Singles, Men's Open, Women's Open, and Doubles (all divisions).
The Forge II promises that "11 obstacles will test you, challenge you, and forge you into a champion!" Are you ready for it?
