With the weather set to be spectacular on Saturday, April 27th, I'd imagine your plans will involve lots of outdoor activities. And if a visit to Whitesville KY wasn't among those plans, it probably will be now.

The Kentucky Firefighters Association's fundraiser this Saturday was already going to be a blast, but now the event has a little extra juice...the kind of "juice" that's perfect for a warm spring afternoon.

Since it is a chicken cook-off (and my mouth is already watering), teams will get an early start on prepping their birds for a 4:30 PM deadline. That's when they'll need to be finished for judging AND dining. There will an auction and live music, too. It's going to be a full day of fun.

Here are a few of the items that will be up for bid:

Again, we already knew visitors were going to be in for a treat. But now, guests at the KFA fundraiser will have the opportunity to take helicopter rides. They will begin at 2 PM for $20 per person.

Since 1919, the Kentucky Firefighters Association has supported Commonwealth firefighters by providing specialized training to specific departments and granting benefits to fire departments. Those include workers' compensation, volunteer state aid, and training incentive pay. The KFA has also been a co-sponsor of the Kentucky State Fire School for 75 years.

So head to Whitesville Saturday and take a thrilling helicopter ride. Then grab a bib and go to town on some amazing chicken. I can't think of a better way to show your support for the KFA.
