Kentucky Couple Turn Junk Removal Into A Social Media Sensation
Kara and Eddie Anderson just celebrated an impressive social media milestone. At the end of March, they reached 170,000 followers on Facebook. Those followers are multiplying by the day. As I sit to write this story about Junk Lovers, they're sitting at 174,000 people who, well, love their junk. And they also love Kara and Eddie.
So, how did this Grayson County couple get here? The truth is, some of you may recognize this dynamic duo. Back in 2022, they competed on national television in a season of Worst Cooks in America on Food Network.

At the time of filming, both Kara and Eddie were teachers in the Grayson County School System. Kara spent eleven years teaching English and Broadcast Journalism. Eddie taught Art for five. Both resigned- at the same time- and knew they "needed a new way to make ends meet."

Kara says, "One thing we both enjoyed was cleaning out houses." The two had done so a few times for family members. That's when the idea hit them. Kara asked, "I wonder if we could provide a service like this?"
The rest is proverbial history. The two quickly discovered that "junk removal businesses" are indeed a thing. They also, just as quickly, discovered that there's a pretty hefty demand for them. So, they came up with the name Junk Lovers and jumped into business. Appropriately, this idea the couple fell in love with was officially born on Valentine's Day- on February 14th, 2023.
Kara admits, "Our families thought we were crazy when we told them we quit teaching and were going to haul off people's junk." Friends and family were undoubtedly skeptical.
Kara says, "I don't think anyone thought we would make it three months, let alone three years."
After spending years in education, Kara was concerned that she would miss the fulfillment of teaching. But those concerns didn't last long at all. She explains, "We quickly learned that we were providing a very needed service- one that few people could physically and emotionally do."
The Junk Lovers have learned there are generations of stories buried in all that 'junk'. They get to unearth them, sift through them, and enjoy them. That, friends, is fulfillment. They're simultaneously filling dumpsters and their hearts.
