Several years ago, while visiting friends in Cleveland, Ohio, we visited the Cuyahoga County Fair. (That's Cleveland's county.) Watching city folk regard cows in the same way us non-city folk regard zoo animals like zebras and monkeys was amusing. They were never around cows, so I got it. Still, it was pretty funny.

Fluffy Cows

So I can only imagine their reaction if we'd been treated to an enclosure featuring a bovine breed none of us sees regularly here in the United States. They are Highland cows, and if you're familiar with the term, then you know they come from Scotland.

But that doesn't mean you can't see them and interact with them here in this country. More specifically, you can do so in Kentucky. Considering how parts of the Commonwealth's terrain resemble that of rural Great Britain, it makes sense. And what a fun opportunity.

TC Highlands Farm

Head to Pleasureville, Kentucky, in Shelby County, where it will be TC Highlands Farm's "pleasure" to introduce you to a collection of the fluffiest cows you've ever seen. Of course, that begs the question, "How many fluffy cows have you seen?" but you get my vibe.

TC Highlands Farm takes pride in raising this heritage breed of cattle and is happy to welcome your interaction with these gentle creatures. They also sell them as pets, but they do make sure they go to families who are capable of taking good care of them.

The cows are friendly and love people, so you will undoubtedly have a memorable experience. But you'll need to secure your visit on the TC Highlands Farm events page in time because there is a cut-off in terms of how many guests can be there at once.

TC Highlands Farm is open through November.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.
