I don't just argue with folks when the topic of the best barbecue comes up. There's also the matter of bluegrass music. North Carolina can play a part in both conversations. Who has the better barbecue? Who cranks out the best bluegrass music?

The Blue Bridge Boys

The former is a good debate; the latter might not even be an argument anyone wants to have. Great bluegrass is great bluegrass, and Owensboro's Blue Bridge Boys create some of the best sounds you'll hear. Specializing in bluegrass, country, and Christian music, the Blue Bridge Boys have quickly developed a faithful fan base here in the tri-state.

Battle of the Banjos

September 4th through September 6th is when thousands will gather in Mill Spring, North Carolina, for the Earl Scruggs Music Festival. Much like ROMP here in Daviess County, the Earl Scruggs Music Festival is loaded with some of the biggest names in bluegrass. There's also a spot for the winner of the Battle of the Banjos, a competition wherein the act with the most votes will get to play at the festival.

Online voting has begun, and voters have through Wednesday, May 6th, to voice their choice. The official ballot can be found on the music festival's web page, and the competition features seven other acts besides the Blue Bridge Boys.

If you need a little inspiration before you cast your vote, check out this Blue Bridge Boys performance at the Rosine Barn. These guys are talented way beyond their years.

I think the Blue Bridge Boys would be an amazing addition to any bluegrass festival. I've cast my vote, and I think you know who it is.
