"We had over 150 people the first year. We're hoping for bigger and better this year!"

The Baker's Creek Haunted Trail and Trunk or Treat event returns to Spencer County, Indiana for the second consecutive year and organizers are rounding up ghouls, goblins, and monsters hell-bent on making things go bump in the night.

For reference, Baker's Creek runs through Spencer County and empties into the Ohio River. The trail along that creek can be very eerie at nighttime and that's precisely why the nonprofit group A Better Hatfield is once again turning it into a terrifying Halloween haunt.

Mary Howell, who's again involved with the planning of the haunt, claims, "The creek looks like Friday the 13th."

She's not wrong. Expect screams. Blood-curdling ones.

But, before the haunted trail opens, there's some fun for the entire family. This year's festivities - which promise food, fun, and frights -  will take place on Saturday, October 24th. The popular Trunk or Treat gets underway first. It opens at 5pm and lasts until 7pm.

It's a great opportunity for youngsters in Spencer County and surrounding areas to fill up on Halloween candy.

In addition to the free Trunk or Treat, there will be face painting, bounce houses, chili, and hot chocolate! All that sounds rather tame and delightful, right? Okay, so let's turn your attention to the frightful!

When it gets dark, anyone who thinks they're brave enough can enter the Baker's Creek Haunted Trail. Tickets are just $10 per person and all proceeds support the initiatives of A Better Hatfield.

And, here's a fun new twist for 2026! Last year's event was a one-night-only affair. This year, The Baker's Creek Haunted Trail is also going to be open on Saturday, October 31st. The address is 9799 W.C.R. 100 North in Richland.

I personally can't think of a better way to spend Halloween. In the woods. Running. For your life.
