Angels for Ashley St. Jude Cookout Set for Thursday and Friday
Every year, when I'm chatting with member of the Angels for Ashley cooking team, we never can zero in on the year Jerry Morris and his compatriots joined our fight against childhood cancer. But we do know that it's been more than a decade. Obviously, at this point, we just couldn't do this without them.
The Angels for Ashley St. Jude Radiothon Cookout
If you're new to the St. Jude Radiothon and the accompanying cookout, you are in for a treat and, it seems, excellent weather, rain notwithstanding. You see, since we always conduct the radiothon and the cookout in February, more often than not, it is freezing cold and we are bundled up accordingly. But, as of right now, THIS is what we can anticipate:
No, I'm not rolling my eyes at the rain. We've dealt with nearly paralyzing winter storms during the cookout; a little rain is nothing when the temperatures are that warm. Or will be, hopefully.
The Angels for Ashley Cookout Menu
Jerry Morris and the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team will prepare Boston butts, ribs, and chickens in Whitesville and then drive them into town where they will be sold at Shoe Stop during the radiothon. And for the first time since 2021, the cookout falls on the same weekend as the Big Game. When it comes to providing food for your Big Game party, it doesn't get any better than what the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team will be selling this Thursday and Friday for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
I think you'll score big with your Big Game party attendees once they feast their eyes (and taste buds) on these wonderful offerings:
You'll be able to purchases the butts, ribs, and chickens at Shoe Stop in Owensboro, but also at the Whitesville Mercantile, the Knottsville Water Department, and Weber Corner Grocery at Highway 144 and Highway 69 in Hawesville. Norman MacDonald's in Philpot will be a pickup location on Thursday only. Weber Corner, the Knottsville Water Department, and Shoe Stop are pickup locations only, as well.
Pork sandwiches will be available at the Whitesville Mercantile.
