Aldi, oh how I love thee, let me count the ways. As an avid shopper ever since Aldi opened its doors in Owensboro, there are lots of reasons why this grocery chain has my heart.

One of the biggest reasons is of course the great deals you can find on products that would cost sometimes dollars more at other popular stores. By stocking shelves with "Aldi-exclusive" brands, putting customers to work returning our own carts and bagging our own groceries, they can keep costs low. This helps to pass along the savings to shoppers.

Something else special to Aldi is how they lead the industry in sustainable practices. From reducing plastic in their packaging to encouraging shoppers to bring their own shopping bags, they have made an effort to cut back on the significant waste that ends up in landfills for who knows how long. They are also planning to update their refrigeration system with eco-friendly coolants over the next ten years.

"Eliminating plastic shopping bags from our stores and transitioning to environmentally friendly refrigerant systems not only help us protect the environment, but they also help reduce costs, which we then pass on to our customers. These decisions help our customers feel good about shopping at Aldi and our employees feel proud to work here." said CEO of Aldi, Jason Hart, in a press release.

Stores will continue to offer reusable cloth bags for purchase should you forget to bring your own. As a frequent Aldi shopper I have learned to keep mine in my car with my cart quarters! Highly recommend.
