My Migraine Had Perfect Timing

Yesterday afternoon, around 3 p.m., my head started hurting. I'm very used to migraines, but even after multiple rounds of medication, the pain kept getting worse. My last line of defense before I consider going to the emergency room is Phenergan. I only have to use it about once a year, but when I do, it's a doozy.

I popped the anti-nausea medication, and the next thing I knew, my husband was waking me up to see if I wanted dinner. I ate a couple of bites and went right back to bed.

Sleeping Through the Storm

He woke me up again later to head down to the basement. I was in such a stupor that I went downstairs for a few minutes but barely remember it. I vaguely recall trying to watch Wayne Hart, but I couldn't seem to get my phone to work.

Once my family felt like enough time had passed, I headed back upstairs and went back to sleep. This morning, my daughter was telling me about conversations we had during the evening that I don't remember at all.

I Missed Some Crazy Weather

What a night for the person who usually helps coordinate weather coverage around here to come down with a migraine. I guess my head knew what was coming.

With only a slight risk for severe weather in the forecast, I was shocked to learn this morning that we had some crazy weather move through the area. Some large tornadoes passed right by my house, and I slept through most of it!

Newburgh Businesses Adjusting Hours

The storms left their mark across the area. This morning, several businesses in Newburgh announced modified business operations, and some have closed temporarily while they assess damage and clean up.

Walgreens Newburgh: Closed until further notice (call 812-853-5339 for updates)

Kim's: Closed Indefinitely

"We were hit hard by the tornado and will be closed indefinitely. No one was injured and for that we are thankful, however the damage to the building and furniture is extensive. Customers and clients may reach us by texting 812-455-1818 or leaving messages at 812-490-6595. The store has no power so phones will not function. We ask for patience and understanding as we navigate this very difficult situation."

Ace Hardware: Closed but curbside available - cash only

"Our Newburgh location was impacted by last evening's tornado. While our storefront is temporarily closed, we are available for curbside service if you need any supplies.
At this time, our computer systems are down, so we are only able to accept cash payments. For immediate hardware and home repair needs, please visit Ace Hardware Superstore Darmstadt or Ace Hardware of Evansville East until our Newburgh store is fully operational. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore normal operations. Fiesta Acapulco Newburgh: Opening at 3

Due to tornado damage, Fiesta Acapulco will be closed for lunch today. We will reopen at 3PM today!

Diamond Valley Credit Union: Open 
Newburgh experienced a tornado touchdown last night that caused extensive damage in an area near our branch office. Our Newburgh branch also sustained damage, as you may see in shared photos. We encourage members to avoid the area today as cleanup efforts begin. Members can continue to access services at this location, other branch locations, or through online and mobile banking. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by last night’s storm. We appreciate your understanding and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
