Confidence is Growing that Thursday’s Storms Could Bring Tornadoes to the Ohio River Valley [Timeline]
Historic Snow Now Severe Storm Threat for the Tri State
It’s February in the tri state and we have already dealt with a historic snowstorm that left several inches of snow behind. I still have a stubborn pile at the end of my driveway that refuses to quit. Now, we are about to swap snow boots for storm alerts.
The National Weather Service says a thunderstorm system moving in Thursday could bring damaging wind gusts and even tornadoes.
According to a post from the National Weather Service:
Confidence is growing that at least some of the area will see severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening. Tornadoes and damaging wind gusts will be the main threats.
While most of the area is under some risk of severe thunderstorms, confidence is greatest in the Wabash Valley and Evansville Tri State region and points east.
Check for updates over the next one to two days as the forecast evolves. Do not wait until the day of the storm to begin protecting yourself. If the forecast calls for severe weather, begin preparing now. Stay weather ready.
Thursday Severe Weather Timeline for Evansville and the Wabash Valley

What Slight Risk Means for the Tri State
Right now, we are in a Slight Risk area. Slight is 3 out of 6 on the severe weather scale. That does not mean nothing will happen. It means conditions are there, and things can shift quickly between now and Thursday afternoon.
Keep your phone charged and make sure you have our app downloaded with notifications turned on. If things go sideways, we will simulcast Eyewitness News 25 and push out alerts about any tornado warnings as they are issued.

Snow one week, severe storms the next. Welcome to February in the tri state.
