Ellis Park in Kentucky Postponing July 28-29 Races
If you are from the tri-state, you have to preface any discussion about the summer heat with "It's HOT, DON!" My daughter came home from the Vanderburgh Co. 4-H fair horse contesting yesterday all red-faced. She was exhausted from the inescapable heat.
WEEKEND FORECAST
It's HOT, Don, and it's about to get hotter. The National Weather Service has issued a warning:
EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/FRIDAY- HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ FRIDAY TO
7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ SATURDAY
* WHAT...For the Excessive Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 108 to 113. For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 108 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana and southeast Missouri. The Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for
areas along and north of a Perryville Missouri to Marion Illinois to Evansville Indiana line.
* WHEN...For the Excessive Heat Warning, until 8 PM CDT Friday. For the Heat Advisory, from 8 PM CDT Friday to 7 PM CDT
Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
ELLIS PARK MOVES FRIDAY, SATURDAY PROGRAMS TO MONDAY, TUESDAY DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT
Due to this forecast, Ellis Park has announced that Friday and Saturday's programs will be postponed to Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
The Friday-Saturday cards will transfer as is to Monday-Tuesday and will not be redrawn.
Sunday's nine-race program remains on schedule. First post Sunday-Tuesday will remain 11:45 a.m. CST.
