Miles for Mutts 5K Kicks Off a Big Day for Warrick Humane Society

Warrick Humane Society is getting ready for a pretty big Saturday, and you're invited!

On October 24, runners, walkers, and their four-legged running buddies are invited to hit the Warrick Trails for the annual Miles for Mutts 5K. Once everyone crosses the finish line, the celebration continues with the grand opening of Warrick Humane Society's brand-new shelter.

So, basically, come run with your dog, and then stick around to celebrate a huge milestone for homeless animals in our community.

Run or Walk the Miles for Mutts 5K

The 3.1-mile run/walk begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, starting and ending at Warrick Humane Society and taking participants along the Warrick Trails.

And yes, your dog can absolutely join you.

Registration is currently $35 and remains open through race morning. Participants can also add a Miles for Mutts pet bandana for $10.

Awards will be presented to the top five male and female finishers, plus one particularly speedy canine will earn the first-place dog award.

Register for the Miles for Mutts 5K

Even if you're not chasing a personal record, there's another reason to make it to the finish line.

All of the proceeds from the Miles for Mutts 5K help Warrick Humane Society care for the homeless animals while they await their forever homes, so register now.

Participants can also make an additional donation when registering. A $30 donation comes with a long-sleeved Miles for Mutts shirt, while a $50 donation includes a double-walled, vacuum-insulated tumbler. Shirt sizes and colors may be limited.

Stick Around for Warrick Humane Society's Grand Opening

The finish line isn't the end of the day's festivities.

Immediately following the race, Warrick Humane Society will celebrate the grand opening of its new shelter at 5566 Vann Road in Newburgh.

The grand opening runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving the community an opportunity to see the new facility that has been years in the making.

So whether you're running. walking, or being dragged down the trail by an overly enthusiastic dog, October 24 is shaping up to be a pretty special day for Warrick Humane Society.
