Arguably one of the greatest bands in the history of rock music, Judas Priest, is set to perform in Evansville, Indiana on May 17, 2024, and I had the distinct pleasure of getting to sit down to chat with frontman and Metal God, Rob Halford.

Judas Priest on Tour

Rock legends, Judas Priest are on tour in support of the band's nineteenth studio album, Invincible Shield. The album was released March 6th. With the announcement of the album late last year, the band released a lyrics video for the first song of the album, Panic Attack in October 2023 before releasing the title track Invincible Shield, and the third single, Crown of Horns. It is the latter that Rob Halford describes in our interview as a "love song."

We all wear something like a bit of a crown of horns to get to the place that we need to be in a in a relationship in particular. So it's a love song. It sounds crazy, but Crown of Horns is a love song.

Read the lyrics to Crown of Horns below:

I learned the hard way
That what you dream for
Comes from the pain you hold inside
I’m on a long road there is no answer
You have to hold the love you find

I’d wait so helpless
But love was waiting
Just like an angel in the dark

Heavy is the crown of horns
That rests upon this head
Heavy is the crown of horns
From all the blood he shed

The days seemed endless
No sense of calling
Until the daylight came to be
I thought of rapture to end this capture
Then something grew inside of me

I found my way now
And I am soaring
Almost touching every star
Heavy is the crown of horns
That rests upon this head

Heavy is the crown of horns
From all the blood he shed
Heavy is the crown of horns
That kept the faith so bright
Heavy is the crown of horns
That gave me all this life

I’ll call out to the world tonight
To raise your horns up high
I’m calling to the world tonight
To let your voices fly

I’ll call out to the world tonight
Give thanks for we are saved

I’m calling to the world tonight
To never be afraid
The end of longing
A place to rest now
I found the answer to my prayer

I’m on my way now
And I am soaring
I’m almost touching every star

Heavy is the crown of horns
That rests upon this head
Heavy is the crown of horns
From all the blood he shed

Heavy is the crown of horns
That kept the faith so bright
Heavy is the crown of horns
That gave me all this life

Fifty Years of Music

Judas Priest has been creating music for half a century, and Halford is still in awe of the experience.

We released our first ever album in 1974, Rocka Rolla. And here we are exactly 50 years later with the Invincible Shield. It's like, what? Are you crazy?

Judas Priest in Evansville, Indiana
