Ranch-Flavored Ice Cream is Real and You Can Buy It in Indiana & Kentucky
File this under things that should have been an April Fool's Day prank but weren't.
Don't Believe Everything on Social Media - Except for This
Look. We all know that you cannot believe everything that you see or read on the internet, especially on social media, so when I saw a friend had shared the photo below of a tub of ranch-flavored ice cream my first thought was that it was fake. My second thought was that it was a belated April Fool's Day joke. Turns out it is neither fake nor a joke. My friend Marissa's post reads:
This is not a late April Fool's, this is really a flavor I found at Wal-Mart tonight.
When I spotted Marissa's photo and her claims that it was in fact a very real product that she herself found on a shelf at one of our local Walmart stores, I did what I always do in this kind of situation - I rushed to Google.
And Google Says...
As it turns out, the ice cream in question, Van Leeuwen's Limited Edition French Artisan Ice Cream in the flavor Hidden Valley Ranch, is a very real thing - and you can buy it in Evansville! The company, which got its start serving ice cream from a truck on the streets of New York, promises, according to its website,
TO MAKE GOOD ICE CREAM THAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD. BECAUSE A LIFE WITHOUT ANYTHING GOOD IS BAD.
And while that may be true, I don't know that I will be putting their Hidden Valley Ranch flavored ice cream to the test. I'll leave that to those braver than I am, like this guy. Timmy's Takeout has nearly 1.5 million subscribers and he shared his taste test in the video below.
This isn't the first weird food flavor that Van Leeuwen Ice Cream has given us. You may remember back in 2021 when the company partnered with Kraft to bring us Mac & Cheese flavored ice cream.
How To Get Your Hands on Van Leeuwen Hidden Valley Ranch Ice Cream
If you want to try the Hidden Valley Ranch-flavored Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, you can find it in Evansville. Currently, according to the Walmart website, it is available in all of our surrounding stores in Southern Indiana including Evansville-east, Evansville-west, and both Neighborhood Market locations, as well as the Walmart stores in Newburgh, Boonville, and Princeton in Indiana
In our part of Southwestern Kentucky, the Hidden Valley Ranch-flavored Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is available at Owensboro, Henderson, and Morganfield Walmart stores. Visit Walmart.com to see if it is available near you. Now, if you need me I will be over here eating my very boring banana ice cream.
