The U.S. has officially declared a blood shortage, and one local organization is stepping up in a big way.

River City Pride is once again partnering with the American Red Cross to host the Pride In Every Drop Blood Drive, returning for its second year in Evansville.

The blood drive takes place on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the American Red Cross on Stockwell Road.

A Proven Event With Life Saving Impact

Last year’s inaugural Pride In Every Drop Blood Drive made a powerful difference. According to organizers, donations collected during the event helped save 108 lives.

This year, River City Pride is aiming even higher. The 2026 goal is to help save 180 lives, nearly doubling the impact of last year’s effort.

With blood supplies critically low nationwide, organizers say the timing of the event is especially important.

Why This Blood Drive Matters Right Now

Blood donations are essential for emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatments, and chronic illness management. When shortages are declared, hospitals can be forced to delay procedures and limit care.

By hosting an inclusive, community-centered blood drive, River City Pride is helping ensure that lifesaving blood is available for anyone who needs it.

The Pride In Every Drop Blood Drive is open to eligible donors and welcomes allies and members of the LGBTQIA+ community alike.

How To Participate Or Help Spread The Word

Appointments are encouraged to help manage donor flow, but walk-ins may be accepted depending on availability. Donors should bring a valid photo ID and be prepared to follow standard Red Cross donation guidelines.

Even those who cannot donate are encouraged to share the event, bring a friend, or help spread awareness about the ongoing blood shortage.

25 Photos from Evansville Indiana's First Ever Pride Parade and Festival

In 2019 an organization that was new to Evansville's LGBTQIA+ community launched into planning, organizing, and executing the city's very first-ever Pride Parade and Festival. The day, wildly colorful and hugely successful, was hosted by River City Pride. Full of vibrancy, joy, and love, June 22, 2019, was a day for the Evansville history books.
