Newburgh Splash Pad Hosting a Birthday Party and You’re Invited
It's hard to believe it's already been five years since the splash pad first opened at Newburgh's Lou Dennis Community Park.
What began as a community vision in 2021 has become one of the most popular summer destinations in the area, drawing thousands of families each year looking for a place to cool off, play, and spend some time outdoors.
Now, the Town of Newburgh is inviting the community to celebrate the Splash Pad's fifth birthday with a special Aloha-themed event packed with family-friendly fun.

Five Years of Summer Memories
Since opening in June 2021, the Splash Pad has served as the centerpiece of Lou Dennis Community Park and helped transform the space into a destination for recreation and community gatherings.
Over the past five years, the park has continued to grow through the addition of shade structures, shelter houses, infrastructure improvements, landscaping projects, and sustainability initiatives, including the use of solar energy.
Town officials say the anniversary is about more than celebrating a popular attraction. It's also an opportunity to recognize how the park has evolved and the role it plays in bringing families together.
Aloha-Themed Birthday Celebration Planned
The fifth birthday celebration will take place at Lou Dennis Community Park on Friday, June 5, 2026, featuring plenty of activities for kids and families.
Visitors can enjoy free donuts from 10 a.m. until noon while supplies last. The event will also include aloha-themed games and activities, temporary tattoos, a limbo contest, bean bag toss, tropical-themed photo opportunities, prizes, and treats.
Residents are encouraged to wear their favorite Hawaiian shirts and join in the festivities.
Even More Improvements Are On the Way
While the Splash Pad celebrates its first five years, Newburgh is already looking toward the future.
Construction is underway on a major expansion project that will bring a new playground, obstacle course, and outdoor fitness zone to Lou Dennis Community Park. The new additions are expected to open during the summer of 2026 and will create new opportunities for recreation for residents of all ages.
During the anniversary celebration, visitors will be able to view concept renderings, learn more about the project, and see construction progress firsthand.
The Splash Pad is currently open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. throughout the summer season.
