Evansville Animal Rescue Urgently Needs Fosters And Bottled Water After Water Main Break
An unexpected water main break has created a difficult situation for one Evansville area animal rescue, and they're asking for the community to step in.
It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue says a water main leak has flooded Stockwell Road, limiting access to the shelter and forcing its water to be shut off. Once service is restored, the shelter expects to be under a boil advisory for at least two days.
That means they're now facing an urgent need for bottled water and temporary foster homes to help care for the animals.

The Shelter Needs Bottled Water
With no potable water available, It Takes a Village is asking for donations of gallon jugs and cases of bottled water to help care for the dogs and cats currently at the shelter.
Every donation will help staff continue providing clean drinking water while repairs are completed and the advisory remains in effect.
Fosters Are Needed Right Away
The rescue says the biggest need is temporary foster homes for both dogs and cats.
Opening your home, even for a short time, gives an animal a safe place to stay while also easing the strain on shelter staff during this unexpected situation.
If you've ever considered fostering, this is one of those moments where it can make an immediate difference.

Here's How You Can Help
If you are interested in becoming a foster:
New foster families can apply through the It Takes a Village website.
If you've already been approved as a foster, the rescue asks that you email info@itvrescue.org so staff can quickly match you with an animal in need.
If fostering is not an option, donations of bottled water are another simple way to support the shelter while repairs are underway.
Access to the Shelter Has Changed
Because of flooding on Stockwell Road, the rescue says the shelter is currently only accessible by entering from the Lloyd Expressway,
Anyone planning to drop off supplies or visit the shelter should plan to use that route until the flooding has been resolved.
It Takes a Village thanked the community for always stepping up when their animals need help, saying every foster home and every case of bottled water helps ensure dogs and cats continue receiving the care they deserve.
