iCan Bike Program Returns To Evansville This June
For many of us, learning to ride a bike is something that happens in childhood and is quickly taken for granted.
But for some, it can feel out of reach.
That's what makes the annual iCan Bike program from Easterseals Rehabilitation Center so meaningful for families across the Tri-State.

A Week Can Change Everything
The five-day camp runs June 1 through June 5 at the National Guard Armory in Evansville. It's designed for children, teens, and adults ages 8 and older who have mild to moderate disabilities.
Participants attend 75-minute sessions each day, working one-on-one with trained staff and volunteers using specially adapted bicycles.
The goal is simple but powerful. By the end of the week, most riders are able to transition to a traditional two-wheel bike without training wheels.
Building Confidence Along The Way
The program supports individuals with a range of conditions, including:
- Cerebral palsy
- Down syndrome
- Autism
- Coordination challenges
While learning to ride is the focus, the benefits often go far beyond that.
Riders build confidence, independence, and a sense of accomplishment that carries into other areas of their lives.

Registration And Financial Assistance
Registration is $200 per participant, which helps bring the specialized equipment and bikes to Evansville.
The fee includes:
- The full five-day camp
- A bicycle helmet
- An iCan Bike t-shirt
Financial assistance is available for families who need it, thanks to community donors.
The registration deadline is May 6, and spots are still open.
Volunteers Play A Key Role
The program relies heavily on volunteers to help riders succeed.
Volunteers must:
- Be at least 15 years old
- Be able to run alongside a bike
- Commit to one or more daily sessions
Available session times:
- 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
- 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm
It's also a great opportunity for students who need service hours.
