Music Festival Survival: Must Have Essentials For Your Fanny Pack
Before you head off to your next music festival, make sure you've got these essentials packed.
Whether you're going to Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee, Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, or any of the other countless music festivals across the country, one of the most important things you can do is be prepared. Every festival is different, but there are some things you can do to prepare regardless of which festival you're jetting off to.
Fanny Pack vs Hydration Backpack
Every festival has rules about hydration backpacks, fanny packs, and other bags. Those rules dictate how big the bags can be, whether or not they have to be clear, and even how many pockets they can have on them. At Bonnaroo, for example, hydration backpacks can only have two pockets, including the one that the water bladder goes in. For fanny packs they can only have one zippered compartment. Clear bags can be no larger than a standard 12 x 12 x 6 stadium bag.
Personal Bag Preference
My personal preference is to carry my hydration backpack and a clear multi-pocket fanny pack. This allows be plenty of space to bring everything I need into the festival while keeping things organized and easily accessible while still meeting all of the security guidelines.

Things I may only need once or twice like sunscreen can go in the backpack. Items I may need to access more frequently go in the fanny pack. Plus I can keep my phone, ID and credit card in the fanny pack so it stays in front of me and in view at all times.
What Goes In a Festival Fanny Pack
While this may be different for everyone, there are a few things that I believe should be in every person's festival fanny pack. Keep reading to see what I keep in mine.
