Thrifting and Coffee? This Evansville Store Is Expanding Both
You may or may not already know, but I have a bit of a thrifting problem.
OK, "problem" feels unnecessarily judgmental. Let's call it a hobby that occasionally results in me bringing home things I absolutely did not know I needed until approximately 30 seconds before I bought them.
So when I learned that The Thrift Store by Evansville Rescue Mission is expanding, you better believe I was paying attention.
And the news gets even better because Mission Grounds, the coffee shop alongside the store, is expanding too.
Thrifting AND coffee? You don't have to threaten me with a good time.
The Thrift Store Is Getting a New Look
The Thrift Store is located inside Washington Square Mall in Evansville, and the team has been working behind the scenes on some big changes.
We'll get our first look at what's new during the store's Grand Reveal.
The celebration will showcase the store's new look and an expanded Mission Grounds.
Personally, I'm very excited to see what "expanded" means when we're talking about a thrift store because more room potentially means more racks, more shelves, and most importantly, more treasures to hunt for.
Your Thrift Finds Help Support the Evansville Rescue Mission
There's another reason shopping here feels especially good.
Proceeds from The Thrift Store benefit Evansville Rescue Mission, which has been serving our community for 109 years and provides support to people facing homelessness, poverty, and addiction.
That means the clothes, furniture, home decor, and delightfully weird things we discover while wandering the aisles are doing more than getting a second life.
The money we spend on those finds goes back into an organization helping people right here in our community.
So really, if I find another dress or purse I don't technically need, I'm supporting a good cause.
When Is the Grand Reveal?
The Grand Reveal of The Thrift Store by Evansville Rescue Mission takes place:
- Wednesday, September 23, 2026
- 10 a.m.
- Washington Square Mall in Evansville
Visitors will get to see the newly expanded space and check out the changes coming to Mission Grounds. They say we'll also see new store hours.
As someone who firmly believes you can never have too many places to hunt for secondhand treasures, I'm very excited to see what they've been working on.
