Summer is coming and that means pools across the city will be opening up for the season. The Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation will be offering free swimming lessons and more.

Is there anything more iconically summer than grabbing your towel and beach bag to head off to the city pool? Of course, before you go to the pool, it's a good idea to make sure everyone knows how to swim. The Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation will be offering free swim lessons at the city's Lorraine pool.

The swim lessons will be offered in three sessions: June 11 - 21, June 25 - July 5, and July 9 - 19. They will take place from 10 am until 10:45 am each Tuesday through Friday. The lessons are offered free of charge to children and families. The lessons will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and signups will begin on June 4th at Lorraine pool.

Life guards are paid a starting rate of $12.50 an hour. Classes will be held for both new certifications and those that need to go through recertification.

Not only are they hiring life guards, they have a number of other positions available as well. These include pool managers, head life guards, and pool cashiers.

Those interested in learning more about swim lessons, life guard certifications, or swim teams, can visit the Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation online on the official City of Evansville government website.
