Popular Evansville Christmas Light Map Gets Spooky

If you're the kind of person who will absolutely take the long way home in December to drive past a house covered in Christmas lights, there's now something similar coming for spooky season.

The folks behind the popular Evansville Christmas Lights Facebook page are expanding their holiday-light expertise into Halloween with Evansville Halloween Lights/Haunts.

And yes, there will be a map.

From Christmas Lights to Halloween Haunts

Evansville Christmas Lights has become a handy resource for anyone looking for impressive Christmas light displays around the Tri-State during the holiday season.

Each year, the page puts together a Google map identifying decorated homes and larger light displays, making it easy to load up the family, grab some hot cocoa, and plan your own Christmas light tour.

Now, the same idea is getting a Halloween makeover.

The newly launched Evansville Halloween Lights/Haunts page will highlight some of the coolest decorated Halloween houses around the area, along with places where you can get a good scare.

A Halloween Map Is Coming to Evansville

Just like its Christmas counterpart, Evansville Halloween Lights/Haunts plans to create a map that followers can use to find decorated homes around the Tri-State.

That's particularly useful for Halloween because some people go all out decorating their homes, but unless you happen to live nearby or someone shares the address on social media, you may never know they're there.

Having those displays collected in one place means you can eventually create your own driving route and spend an evening checking out some of the area's best spooky houses.

More Than Halloween Decorations

The new page isn't going to be limited to residential displays, either.

Organizers say they'll also share information about haunted houses and other Halloween events around the Tri-State, giving followers another place to look when they're searching for something spooky to do this fall.

The page is still fairly new, and we're only in August, so obviously not everyone has dragged the skeletons, ghosts, and giant inflatable monsters out of storage just yet.

But with Halloween creeping closer, this could become a really fun resource as more displays begin popping up around Evansville and the surrounding area.

And if the Christmas lights map has taught us anything, it's that there are probably some spectacularly spooky houses hiding in neighborhoods you've never thought to explore.
