Local Baby Shower Event Will Support Families In Need
Families in the Evansville area will have a chance to get support, resources, and essential baby items at an upcoming Community Baby Shower designed to help those who need it most.
The event is set for Saturday, May 2, from 1 to 3 p.m., and it is open to the entire community, with a focus on supporting families navigating pregnancy, postpartum life, and early childhood needs.
What Families Can Expect At The Community Baby Shower
Organizers say this year’s event will go beyond giveaways. Families who attend can take part in short educational sessions covering topics like perinatal health, lactation support, and car seat safety. The goal is to make sure attendees leave not just with supplies, but with knowledge and support they can actually use.
At the same time, every participating family will receive essential baby items to help ease some of the financial stress that often comes with raising a newborn.

Donations Are Still Needed Before April 30
Community members who want to help still have time to donate. Organizers are currently collecting baby essentials that will be distributed during the event.
Requested items include:
- Diapers
- Formula
- Wipes
- Breastfeeding supplies
- Baby bottles
- Diaper cream
- Car seats
- Pack and plays
Donations must be dropped off at the Immigrant Welcome and Resource Center by April 30 to be included in the event.
For those who prefer to give online, organizers have created an Amazon wish list filled with essential items. With the April 30 deadline approaching, it is one of the fastest ways to make sure your donation arrives in time to help a local family. Monetary donations are also being accepted.
Local Organizations Team Up To Support Families
This year’s Community Baby Shower is being organized through a partnership between several local groups, including:
- The Immigrant Welcome and Resource Center
- 4 Good Community
- Anthem Medicaid
- CareSource
- CAPE
- Managed Health Services
- Indiana Evansville Marshallese Community Inc.
- Centro Latino Americano
Together, they are working to ensure that families across the community feel supported and have access to both resources and essentials during an important stage of life.
Anyone interested in donating items can contact organizers in advance via email at evvimmigrantwelcomecenter@gmail.com to coordinate drop-off times. Families planning to attend can simply show up during event hours.
