Help Aurora Support Evansville’s Most Vulnerable
One of Evansville's organizations serving people experiencing homelessness is asking the community for a helping hand.
Aurora Evansville has put out an urgent call for donations to help stock essential supplies for its outreach clients. With summer heat in full swing and many people living outdoors, items like bug spray, sunscreen, and even a sturdy tarp can make a meaningful difference.
If you've been looking for a simple way to help someone in our community, this is one opportunity to do just that.

What Aurora Needs Most Right Now
Aurora is currently collecting:
- Tents
- Tarps
- Bug spray
- Sunscreen
- Men's shorts (all sizes)
- Women's shorts (all sizes)
The organization says both new and gently used shorts are welcome, while other donated items should be new and in usable condition.
An Easy Way to Help
For those who prefer to shop online, Aurora has also created an Amazon Wish List.
Items purchased through the list can be sent directly to the organization, making it easy for community members to help even if they can't make it to a donation drop-off in person.
Helping Some of Our Community's Most Vulnerable
Aurora is a nonprofit based in Evansville that works to prevent and reduce homelessness by providing outreach, essential resources, and support services.
In addition to assisting people currently experiencing homelessness, Aurora also helps individuals transitioning back into the community after incarceration or institutional care, along with people with disabilities and others at heightened risk of losing stable housing.
According to the organization, Aurora serves more than 1,600 people each year, including veterans, families, and individuals facing housing instability.
Every Donation Makes a Difference
The need for assistance continues to grow as housing costs and other financial pressures affect more families and individuals.
While not everyone is in a position to make a large donation, even something as simple as a bottle of sunscreen, a can of bug spray, or a pair of shorts can help someone facing a difficult situation during the hottest months of the year.
Aurora says every donation helps them continue providing practical support and compassionate care to people who need it most.
