A British Columbia woman’s small dog proved that size doesn’t matter when it comes to bravery. Home security footage from West Vancouver shows a 6-pound Pomeranian named Scout chasing a bear out of his owner’s home. The bear had wandered inside through a propped-open door on a hot Monday afternoon.

Bear Interrupts Breakfast

Owner Kayla Kleine said she left the door open for air circulation when the unexpected visitor arrived. The video shows the bear inspecting the living room TV before moving toward the breakfast set out for Scout. Moments later, the tiny dog sprinted from another room, barking furiously and startling the much larger animal.

“The next thing I knew, Scout was flying around the corner and the bear was running out of our kitchen,” Kleine told Global News. “He didn’t hesitate—he just went for it.”

Bear Flees Over Fence

The bear bolted through the yard with Scout hot on its heels. The chase ended when the bear leaped over a fence and disappeared from sight. Kleine believes Scout’s main motivation was the theft of his meal. “He was mad about losing his breakfast,” she said. “He’s tiny, but when he’s angry, he’s intimidating.”

No Injuries, Just Pride

Fortunately, Scout came out of the encounter unharmed. Kleine praised her dog for his protective nature, describing him as affectionate but fearless. “He’s the best. He loves to cuddle, but he’s also really protective of me and my husband,” she said.

Wildlife officials remind residents to keep doors closed, even in hot weather, to avoid attracting animals. In this case, one determined little dog made sure the intruder didn’t overstay its welcome.
