These lakes scattered all throughout the state provide guests with great opportunities for boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and some really beautiful views. Spending a day (or even a weekend) on a lake in Indiana is something that Hoosiers like me long for in those cold, winter months. We have lakes of all shapes and sizes in Indiana. Everyone has their own go-to lake to visit throughout the year. Out of all the lakes we have here, which one is the deepest? Of course, you might be thinking that the deepest lake in Indiana is Lake Michigan. While that is true, Indiana shares that lake with a few other states. However, when it comes to the deepest land-bound lake in the state, you might be surprised.

So, what is your guess for the deepest lake in Indiana? If you said Tippecanoe Lake, you would be correct! According to Animals A-Z:

While it may be shallow compared to other lakes in the United States, Tippecanoe Lake is the deepest natural lake in Indiana. In northern Indiana’s Kosciusko County, over two miles west of the town of North Webster, a stunning 123-foot deep lake awaits to be explored, and the locals call it “Lake Tippy.”

Something really cool about Tippecanoe Lake is that it is one of the Barbee Chain of Lakes, which consists of seven interconnected glacially formed natural lakes. That's right, glaciers are responsible for this lake. It's crazy to think that the area was once a solid piece of ice.
