This is Indiana’s Deadliest Highway in 2024
We all know that Indiana is known as the "Crossroads of America", but which of these roads is the most dangerous? Spoiler Alert: You've probably driven on it several times.
While Indiana is full of roads that offer great scenery and make for a great Sunday drive, we also have a few sketchy roads throughout the state too. Whether they are very narrow, curvy, crowded with other drivers, or just full of potholes, I'm sure we can all think of a few roads that we tend to try to avoid for one reason or another. For the most part, the roads that I tend to avoid are the ones that are downright dangerous because of heavy traffic and careless drivers. These roads include major highways, expressways, and interstates throughout Indiana.
When I first started driving, my parents always told me to be careful every time I got behind the wheel. They would then tell me that it's not me that they are worried about, it's other drivers. As you know, predicting the actions of other drivers on the roadways is darn near impossible. That's how accidents occur. With that in mind, there are certain highways that are "more prone to accidents and resulting deaths," according to World Population Review. These highways have garnered a dangerous reputation that landed them on the annual list of America's deadliest highways by state.
The Deadliest Highway in Indiana for 2024
It might not come as a surprise to you that the deadliest highway in Indiana for 2024 is none other than Highway 41. This major Indiana highway begins just south of Evansville and runs parallel along the Illinois border all the way north into the south side of Chicago. So, it literally runs the whole length of the state. According to the data from World Population Review, there are over eleven deaths per year on Highway 41.
Here's the thing, this isn't the first time Highway 41 was named the deadliest or most dangerous highway in Indiana. The road has had that distinction for several years.

Indiana is well known for its motor speedways and it seems its drivers also think they are on a motor speedway when they commute to work. The US 41 route in Indiana has had 106 crashes and 111 fatalities over 10 years. The average number of annual fatalities is 11.1. Slow down there, guys.
Based on your experiences on Indiana roads, would you agree or disagree with Highway 41 being named the most dangerous road in Indiana? You can see the full report and find out what the most dangerous roads in other states are by clicking here.
