Get ready! Allergy season is upon us in Indiana. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, you might want to avoid this city at all costs in the Hoosier State.

If you're like me, the weather we experience this time of year here in Indiana really messes with your allergies. The flowers are blooming, the farmers are in the field, and you're sneezing and rubbing your eyes all day long. It's spring and with that brings seasonal allergies for many Hoosiers. It seems like most of the people I know tend to struggle around this time when it comes to allergies. There are many factors that contribute to seasonal allergies. I mean, you name it, and Indiana has it. Tree pollen, grass pollen, weed pollen, and the air itself in some cases.

Recently, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America released a list of  Allergy Capitals for 2024, a list that ranks the worst cities for seasonal allergies. This list is based on pollen scores for tree, grass, and weed pollen, over-the-counter medication use (allergy), and the number of allergy specialists. It appears that most of the top cities for seasonal allergies falls heavily on the southern part of the country. Surprisingly, no Indiana city came in anywhere close to the top ten. So, if you think your seasonal allergies are bad, imagine how bad people have it in those cities!

That being said, let's find out what Indiana city is the worst for seasonal allergies, making it the allergy capital of Indiana.

This is the Allergy Capital of Indiana

The highest-ranking Indiana city on the list of Allergy Capitals for 2024 is none other than Indianapolis. Ironically, the capital city is also the allergy capital of Indiana too. Indianapolis came in at number 74 on the list. Fortunately, Indianapolis is expected to have a better-than-average year when it comes to seasonal allergies...but I am sure some who suffer from them will disagree.

What's even more strange is that Indianapolis was the only Indiana city in the top 100 list. Living in southern Indiana, I know that I have to stock up on allergy medicine in my house this time of year. Some days it is hard to walk outside without immediately sneezing. So, it's kind of surprising to me that more Indiana cities were not included in this list.
