Apparently, all should avoid traveling to this Indiana city at all costs...but why?

Indiana is known as "The Crossroads of America," mainly because the city of Indianapolis is the hub for several major Interstate highways that crisscross the state, connecting Hoosiers to the rest of the United States. Recently, the state of Indiana was named one of the best states in the entire country to drive in. However, you might want to avoid traveling in one Indiana city...because the internet said so.

Recently, the travel website, The Vacationer, released a list of "Cities Americans Avoid Traveling to at All Costs." The website looked into 34 major cities based on population size and visitor popularity. Then the website polled over 1,000 Americans to find which of 34 major cities "they avoid traveling to at all costs." The top ten cities that you should avoid traveling to are as follows:
1. Detroit, Michigan
2. Chicago, Illinois
3. Atlanta, Georgia
4. New York City, New York
5. Baltimore, Maryland
6. Anaheim, California
7. San Francisco, California
8. Austin, Texas
9. Miami, Florida
10. Dallas, Texas

While those cities might not come as a shock to you, there is one Indiana city that did make the list. Maybe you already know what it is, or perhaps you think you know but it's possible that you could be wrong.

Which Indiana City Should You Avoid Traveling to at All Costs?

For me, this was a no-brainer. However, others could argue that there are worse cities to travel to. In any event, The Vacationer says that the 26th worst city to travel to in the United States is Indianapolis.

Now, there are several reasons why someone would want to avoid traveling in Indianapolis. A few of them include congested traffic, construction, and of course those dreaded aggressive drivers. Of course, there are reasons aside from the traveling itself such as population, things to do, and the people you'd encounter. That being said, I have traveled to Indianapolis a lot, and I have to say that aside from rush hour, it really isn't that bad. There are plenty of things to do there and it's not overcrowded. I really wish that The Vacationer laid out some specifics as to why you should avoid traveling to Indianapolis.

In fact, while it isn't in Indiana, I would say that traveling to Louisville, Kentucky is much worse. That's just in terms of the travel alone. Surprisingly, Louisville didn't even make the list. You can check out the list of cities that you should avoid traveling to at all costs by clicking here.
