A Good Ghost Story

Okay, look, do I believe in the paranormal?  I'm not 100% sure, I would say I lean more towards the side of a skeptic.  However, that doesn't stop me from being totally fascinated when it comes to a good ghost story.  I love trying to fit the pieces together to find a logical explanation for what's happening.

As much as I try to find a logical explanation for what could cause something to seem paranormal, when I can't figure out what is causing something to happen, I'm instantly even more obsessed with the story. And listen, we've had weird things that can't be explained happen in our family before.  Like, have I ever told you the lore of my nana's missing peanut butter balls?

Let me give you the Reader's Digest version (this is quick, then we'll get into the REAL scary stuff).

The Quick Mystery of the Missing Peanut Butter Balls

One Christmas, my Nana made a whole platter of chocolate-covered peanut butter balls.  It was cold, so she wrapped the platter in plastic wrap and set it on the counter of her laundry room. Now her laundry room was in a part of the house that used to be a patio, but was enclosed years ago. It has a door that leads to the outside, but the door is locked (this is important later).

The next morning?  Those peanut butter balls were GONE, not a one to be found.  Okay, at this point, you're probably thinking, obviously, an animal had to get hold of them.  But that's where things get weird.  The plastic wrap she had covering the peanut butter balls wasn't disturbed.  It was still perfectly covering the platter and wasn't messed up.  The platter looked exactly the same, just no peanut butter balls.  So where did they go?  They never had any animals enter their house from that area, so besides it being a mouse with the world's worst case of diabetes, we have never been able to solve the mystery.

Okay back to the real scary stuff that you came here for...

The Terrifying Real-Life Haunting of Jennifer Patterson

This story was so fascinating that it was featured on the television series A Haunting.   Jennifer lived in Warsaw, Indiana, and had some terrifying things happen to her that truly cannot be explained, and these ghosts did more than just steal her peanut butter balls.

Jennifer moved into a new home (pictured above), and things were fine at first.  Then she would start to notice small, odd things like a shadowy figure out of the corner of her eye, or a shower curtain being opened when she knows she closed it. But then things took a turn when Jennifer was physically harmed by whatever was in her home.  She was physically shoved down the stairs of her home, and once she was even grabbed by a hand when walking upstairs from her basement.  She believes that it was the previous homeowners who wanted her to get out of their house, but the problem is that the previous homeowners were dead.

Jennifer recently sat down for a documentary with The Ghost Files called A Haunting in Indiana, and I watched the whole thing, and it was FASCINATING.  You have to watch this, just maybe do it during the day and with the lights on.

And if you like her story, Jennifer now co-hosts a podcast called The United States of Paranormal, which you can check out here.
