Lifelong Hoosier Fans Share National Championship Experience

Randy Lutterman graduated from Indiana University in 1970, and the Indiana Hoosier football team was as bad then as it has been since they fielded their first team in 1887. At least that was the case until Curt Cignetti showed up. Mr. Lutterman took his education degree and became a social studies teacher at Castle Junior High School (which is why I call him Mr. Lutterman and not Randy). Never in his life did he believe Indiana Football would win, and he certainly never dreamed that he would one day be at a national championship football game watching his Hoosiers win it all. Lucky for him, his daughter, Katie, married the right guy.

Hoosier Fan Picks Father-In-Law For Ticket Of A Lifetime

Brandon Taylor graduated from Indiana University in 2005, but has been a Hoosier fan since birth (we raise them right around here). Today, he's the athletic director at Castle High School, where he and his wife, Katie, went to school together. Their love blossomed into a beautiful family with two daughters, who, naturally, they're raising correctly as Hoosier faithful. Why am I telling you about his beautiful family? Because Brandon had to make one of the hardest decisions of his life when he won tickets to the national championship game. With a family full of diehard Hoosier fans and only one spare ticket, how could Brandon possibly pick who to take with him? This wasn't hard for him, although he'll surely have some making up to do for his wife and daughters. He chose his father-in-law, Randy, the longtime Hoosier fan and graduate who had been dreaming of this moment, believing it would never come true. Dreams do come true, and the Indiana Hoosiers are National Champions. Randy's wife? You guessed it, Mrs. (Ginger) Lutterman, also a longtime teacher for Castle and an Indiana University graduate.

It's An Indescribale Emotion

The run of emotions that Hoosier fans experienced this year is nothing short of crazy, but it's packed full of pride and joy. It's incredibly difficult to describe what the feeling was that ran over me in the moment I realized my team, our team, the Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoosiers were winning the National Championship. Hoosier Nation gets it. The largest alumni base in the country understands it. We're passionate and proud fans. We're family. Go Hoosiers!
