Rumors of hauntings have swirled around this historic building, and for the first time ever it's about to be the subject of an investigation.

Hauntings in Evansville

The Evansville area is no stranger to legends of haunted places.  Take one look at Willard Library and the legend of the Grey Lady.   Arguably the Grey Lady is the most well-known haunting in the Evansville area, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of other ghost stories surrounding our city.  One historic Evansville building is well-known for hosting delicious German food, and Volksfest every year, but rumors of hauntings have been swirling around this building for years. Soon this building will play host to a paranormal investigation for the first time, and hopefully, we will find out if the rumors are true.

Germania Maennerchor

Evansville has quite a history with German heritage, and according to the Historical Marker Database by 1890 50% of the Evansville population was first or second-generation German-Americans. So it is no surprise that there is a lot of German influence on the city of Evansville.  Germania Maennerchor is an organization that was established to

sponsor and promote German song, speech, music, dramatic arts, and social and fraternal association of its members.

Of course, Germania Maennerchor is well known in the community because they often host events where they serve up delicious German cuisine, but they are most well-known for hosting Volksfest every year.  Volksfest is an entire weekend of fun including live music, a bierstube, and more German food than you can ever imagine.  If you've never had a delicious Germania Maennerchor bratwurst with a side of kraut balls you are missing out!

Legends of Hauntings Surround Germania Maennerchor

Germania Maennerchor is well known for its historic clubhouse that was built in 1913.  One step inside this historic building, and you feel like you've been transported back in time (in a good way)! However, for a building that has been standing for more than a century, you can only imagine what it would be like if those walls could talk.  Over the years many folks have experienced strange happenings inside the historic building.  Some folks have heard voices, seen shadowy figures, and other paranormal experiences.  For the first time ever a paranormal investigation will be held at this iconic Evansville location.

This German club was built in 1913 and has played host to countless events, including Volksfest, which is held there every August. Staff and guests have experienced apparitions in shadowy hallways, voices that seem to mimic known people, and they've witnessed strange sounds that cannot be explained. Join us as we investigate this mammoth building for the first time.
