Warrick County’s Dolly Parton Imaganation Library Gala and Auction

Warrick Literacy & Education Connections has a big fundraising event coming up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and it includes some awesome auction items you just might want to bid on!

Warrick Literacy & Educational Connections partners with the Dollywood Foundation and gifts books every month to preschool-age children living in Warrick County. The Dollywood Foundation publishes and mails the books. WLEC registers children and raises the money needed to buy the books. It's truly a wonderful program that my daughter is enrolled in. Seeing her light up when "Aunt Dolly" sends her a new book for us to read each month is so special. My daughter has really learned a lot thanks to these books. Reading at a young age for children has so many benefits, including:

• Grows the imagination and creativity
• Builds close relationships
• Develops problem-solving skills
• Builds a child’s vocabulary
• Children are ready to read and think

So this is really an incredible and important program that children can be a part of that's absolutely free. However, in order to keep offering these free books to kids across the county, WLEC must do a little fundraising.

For The Love of Books Celebration

Darlene Short, the program’s director, shared that the program is funded entirely through donations and grants. For every $30 donated, a child aged 5 and under registered in Warrick County is able to receive one free book each month for an entire year! That's why fundraising events like this are important. You are invited to be a part of the "For the Love of Books" Celebration for Warrick Literacy & Educational Connections and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library on Saturday, February 21st, at Friedman Park Event Center in Newburgh.

During this event, you will experience a fun evening with dinner, local entertainment, and an auction. All monies raised will help support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Warrick County so our children can continue or start to read! Doors open at 5:15 with dinner beginning at 6:00.

On top of the events happening that evening, there will be an online auction beginning on February 12th and running until 19th at 6 p.m. You can find the auction and items up for grabs by clicking here. Some of the items up for grabs during the online auction include:
