You'll see a lot of vehicles in Indiana with bumper stickers and window decals, but those stickers could be putting your family in danger without realizing it.

When it comes to bumper stickers and window decals, the options are endless. You might be supporting your favorite sports team, an American flag, or a funny saying on your vehicle. We've all seen those on the road. As a parent, there's nothing that I am prouder of than my children. Many parents feel the same way, which is why they have their kids' sports teams or those family stick figures displayed on their vehicles. However, there are certain window decals and bumper stickers that you might have on your vehicle that could potentially put you and your family in danger.

I have been seeing a lot of posts from all over the country recently, where police are warning residents to think twice about certain bumper stickers. Some of the window decals and bumper stickers that you have on your vehicle could be telling criminals more personal information about yourself than you might realize. You could potentially be telling criminals your schedule, your personal information, information about your kids, or even what you own in your home or vehicle.

Police Are Warning You to Remove These Bumper Stickers ASAP

I mentioned the stick figure family window decal previously. This decal shows a stick figure version of all the members of your family. Sometimes, these decals show off activities that everyone is into, and they can even feature everyone's name. That's one of many examples of bumper stickers and window decals that put your family's safety and security at risk. The Allen County Sheriff's Department in Indiana put out a warning a couple of years ago that still rings true in 2026. Take a look at the post below. It might make you second-guess some decals on your vehicle.

Look, I love my kids and will support them 100%, but I'll do so without putting it on display to the point where it could put them at risk. That being said, this isn't meant for you to scrape off all of your stickers and decals on your vehicle. However, it should make you think twice about what you put on display for strangers to see.

SEE: 35 Personalized License Plates the Indiana BMV Rejected

According to the BMV, personalized plate requests may be rejected if they contain the following, let's call them "red flags:"

  • Carries a meaning or connotation offensive to good taste and decency;
  • Would be misleading; or
  • The BMV otherwise considers improper for issuance.

There's no doubt each and every one of these violates one of those provisions, and most of them violate them all.

Does Toothpaste Really Clean Your Vehicle's Foggy Headlights? [Life Hack Test]

According to Carhop.com, cloudy headlights are a relatively modern issue. Originally, car manufacturers used glass domes for the front of their headlights until sometime in the 1980s when they switched to "polycarbonate or plastic" I assume because it was cheaper. Unlike glass, plastic is more susceptible to oxidation which is caused by the UV light created naturally by the sun. Dust, debris, and road grime also contribute to clouding up your lights.

They also say toothpaste can be used to clear that cloudiness thanks to the same mild abrasives that also remove plaque and other gunk from your mouth. As someone who has to see it or try it before I believe it, I decided to give it a shot by following their steps and seeing for myself if they were right.
