Buc-ee’s to Open First Location in Ohio
Buc-ee's is starting to move north! Ohio will get its first location of the massive gas station soon.
The Texas-based convenience store chain, known for the abundance of gas pumps, clean bathrooms, and the unbelievable amount of things you can purchase inside is expanding. Buc-ee's has several locations in southern states like Texas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky. Now, it seems that the company is beginning to expand to the north.
I visited my first Buc-ee's a couple of weeks ago in Alabama. Buc-ee's is huge, and when I say "huge", I mean HUGE. I'm talking about over 100 gas pumps, massive walls full of jerky, delicious beaver nuggets, food, clothing, home decor, and the cleanest public restrooms that I have ever seen.
Buc-ee's Opening First Ohio Location
Our neighbor to the east here in Indiana, Ohio, will be receiving their first Buc-ee's location. It will be at the intersection of 235 and 70 in the northeast corner of the city of Huber Heights, Ohio. I actually have family in this area, so I know where I'll be stopping when I go to visit them. Now, Huber Heights is about four and a half hours away from the Evansville area. While it won't be the closest location to southern Indiana (that honor goes to the Smiths Grove, Kentucky location being built just north of Bowling Green along Interstate 65), it will be the largest location to our neck of the woods.
The largest Buc-ee's recently opened in June in Sevier County, Tennessee, according to WATE. The Tennessee location will is expected to be 74,000 square feet, giving it the title of the world’s largest convenience store. The location also features 120 gas pumps and a 250-foot-long car wash. As you know, Sevierville is about six hours away from Evansville. The new Ohio Buc-ee's is expected to also be 74,000 square feet and 120 fueling positions, giving Sevierville a run for its money.
Huber Heights Mayor, Jeff Gore shared the news on Facebook, along with the proposed plans for Buc-ee's. As of now, there's not timeline on when the new Buc-ee's location will open. However, Mayor Gore said representatives from Buc-ee’s will be at the planning commission meeting on August 15.
With this news, I'm very hopeful that Indiana will be next to receive a Buc-ee's location. Obviously, I would love to have one off of I-69 here in Evansville, but as long as it's within driving distance, I won't complain.
