INDOT Announces Highway 41 Lane Closures in Evansville Beginning June 27th
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces lane closures in both directions for a large section of Highway 41 beginning Monday, June 27th as crews begin a repaving project.
According to the press release available through the INDOT website, the right hand lanes of both northbound and southbound 41 will be closed from approximately a half-mile south of I-69 all the way to Virginia Street, just north of the Lloyd Expressway interchange.
The work is expected to run until late-August or early-September. At that point, crews will shut down left hand lanes in both directions to repeat the process on the right hand lanes.
As part of the announcement, INDOT also offered the following 10 Tips for Driving Safely in Work Zones:
- Expect the unexpected
- Slow Down
- Do not tailgate
- Watch for construction workers and equipment
- Pay attention to work zone signs
- Obey flaggers
- Stay alert
- Minimize distractions
- Schedule extra travel time
- Be patient and stay calm
The entire project is expect to be complete by late Fall, which will give Evansville residents about five months of construction-free driving until the next major project begins.
