TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — The Terre Haute Convention and Visitor's Bureau board of directors has approved spending $200,000 for its share of of engineering and architectural designs for a proposed renovation of the Hulman Center. Indiana State would pay $500,000 for its share. Both Vigo County and Terre Haute would pay $400,000.

WESTFIELD, Ind. (AP) — A homeowners association in Hamilton County has ordered the shutdown of a popular Christmas light display. The Village Farms Homeowners Association claims the display is "hazardous" because it creates "a virtual parking lot" in the neighborhood. The display features more than 400 decoration elements that are synchronized to music on a radio station.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An expert on the nation's coal ash ponds will address Indiana environmental advocates during their annual gathering this weekend. EarthJustice attorney Lisa Evans will keynote Saturday's event at the University of Indianapolis. Coal ash is the waste left when coal is burned to generate electricity. It contains heavy metals such as arsenic and mercury.
