People often say that there's "nothing fun to do in Evansville." I've got an axe to grind (see what I did there?!?) with those people. There are lots of cool things to do in our river city and the latest just happens to be an axe throwing range! Whether you're looking for a fun date night or a cool night out with your friends, definitely check out Plaid & Timber Axe Throwing Company.

Axe throwing isn't new to me. In fact, when Shawn and I were in Las Vegas to get married earlier this year, we spent the night before the wedding throwing axes at place on Fremont Street. It was a co-bach-party of sorts and it was a blast. When I spotted on Facebook late last week that Plaid and Timber had just opened it's doors on Evansville's east side, I knew immediately that I had to take Shawn! I made a quick call and set up a reservation for the two of us. When we arrived we were greeted by Kyle and Adam, along with their wives - did I mention this place is a family-run, local business? They were friendly and welcoming and we immediately felt comfortable. Adam gave us a quick rundown on throwing techniques, scoring, safety and lane etiquette and then we were off and throwing!

Shawn and I haven't had that much fun in a while and it was especially great when we got to celebrate a bullseye! When we finished up with our lane time at Plaid and Timber, we headed to surprise #2 of our date - a 10pm showing of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep (see my review here.) I think Shawn was definitely surprised by our date night and I can say without a doubt, that we'll be going to throw axes again soon. Also if you ever had any doubt that I am just an awkward little nerd, here ya go. I hit the bullseye but I couldn't hit the bell...
