Downtown Evansville EID Collecting Donations for Henderson Fire Victims
The Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District (EID) is asking for your help in providing essential items to our neighbors south of the Ohio River after several were displaced following a fire early Wednesday morning at the Simple Rewards Inn at the intersection of Washington and Adams Streets in Henderson.
The fire, which started around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, left approximately 16 to 18 people with no where to go according to Henderson Fire Chief Scott Foreman, who spoke with our media partner, Eyewitness News at the scene. Due to the need to evacuate immediately, most, if not all, of them had no choice but to leave behind all their personal belongings which were destroyed by the flames.
The Downtown Evansville EID is looking to help those victims replace some of those items by taking donations of blankets, clothes, and food items for the victims at their office at 318 Main Street, Suite 401 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Fridays. They will deliver all donations to the Downtown Henderson Partnership who in turn will get them to the victims.
Donations can also be dropped off directly at the Downtown Henderson Partnership at 101 North Water Street, Suite B.
