Coke Branding Beverages with Individuals’ Names this Summer – Will Yours Be One of Them?
My sister-in-law sent me a photo of Coke's new marketing technique. #shareacoke Bottles have been printed with individuals' names - asking the buyer to share it with them. I'd say most people will buy the Coke with their own name on it - just to relive that feeling when you'd find a license plate for your bike or a key chain with your name on it. Some of us had better luck with that than others...
I assumed they picked out the top 25 names from Generation X. I see "Ashley" and "Jennifer" in there. Yes, I'm an Ashley. All 504,603 of us out there appreciate you thinking of us, Coke. But, according to the Share-a-Coke website, 1,000 names have been added to the list along with words like "mom," "dad" and "bestie." Pretty ingenious, but I appreciate my sis sending the pic instead of buying them. Fewer calories!
