Nationwide retailer BatteriesPlus has issued a voluntary recall of more than 111,000 of it's Rayovac cordless tool replacement battery packs because they could explode.

The recall effects battery packs made before October 2010.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received at least five reports of Rayovac NI-CD batteries exploding due to welding blemishes on the battery packs.
