‘True Blood’ Season 6: Robert Patrick Joins as Series Regular

True Blood Season 6 Robert Patrick Series Regular
HBO

Sure, we were sad to hear that ABC opted not to renew ‘Last Resort,’ which maintained relatively meager rating in its initial run despite being recieved as one of the better offerings of the season. But one good show’s loss is another of our favorite’s gain, as the cancellation frees up series star Robert Patrick to join ‘True Blood‘ full time! The one-time ‘Terminator 2′ star will return to Bon Temps as Jackson Herveaux, father to Alcide and newly minted series regular, but does that mean the werewolves will have a bigger story?

We were excited to first learn that ‘Terminator 2′ star Robert Patrick was to join ‘True Blood’ last season in the role of Alcide’s father, even if the appearance only lasted three episodes. Now, Deadline reports that Patrick will join the HBO blood-sucking drama’s sixth season as a series regular, following the unofficial cancellation of ABC’s naval thriller ‘Last Resort.’

Patrick appeared in three episodes of the previous season as burnout werewolf Jackson Herveaux, eventually helping his son Alcide reclaim the Shreeveport Pack from the “V”-abusing J.D. Whether Patrick’s regular role means the wolves will play a larger part in the coming season remains to be seen.

In addition to Robert Patrick, ‘True Blood’ season 6 has also cast ‘Eastenders’ star Robert Kazinsky as a series regular and new Fae love interest to Sookie, along with Rutger Hauer’s sinister Macklyn.

Few other details are available on the sixth season of HBO’s fang-banging hit, though it’s known that ‘True Blood’ season 6 will be the first run by writer Mark Hudis, following series creator and showrunner Alan Ball’s departure. The season will also take place over 10 episodes, down from the usual 12, largely to accommodate series star Anna Paquin’s pregnancy with co-star Stephen Moyer.

What say you? Is your tail wagging to have Robert Patrick join ‘True Blood’ season 6 as a series regular?
