BLOOMFIELD, Ind. (AP) A man has pleaded guilty to charges he fatally shot a man outside a rural southwestern Indiana home and then raping a woman inside the house. Jason Lee Caldwell has been jailed since he was arrested at an Indianapolis motel in July. Authorities say he waited in the driveway of David Lamm's home and shot him when he arrived. Caldwell pleaded guilty last week to murder and rape charges.

NORTH VERNON, Ind. (AP) Investigators have yet to figure out what caused a fire that swept through a row of century-old business buildings in a southern Indiana city. The state fire marshal's office and the North Vernon Fire Department have been investigating Friday's blaze that gutted several downtown buildings. Officials say five firefighters suffered minor injuries.

HILLSBORO, N.D. (AP) A man wanted in Indiana for stealing money meant for a family in need is jailed in North Dakota. Eric Baldwin was originally arrested for breaking into a warming house at an outdoor ice rink in eastern North Dakota. He later was arrested for escape when he ran from deputies after a court hearing. Baldwin is accused of stealing a donation jar from the counter of a convenience store in Jasper.

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) Ivy Tech Community College is planning to build a state-of-the-art automotive technology training center at a former Anderson car dealership for $1.4 million with space for about 200 students. The college's current automotive technology program in Muncie lacks adequate space and is outdated. It enrolls about 100 students.
