There was a time when Evansville was considered the fattest city in America. Fortunately for us, we managed to escape this embarrassing title after spending nearly a year being the laughing stock of the nation.

However, the truth is, the city’s relinquishment of the fat award wasn’t due to some miraculous revelation by the people in this community to somehow transform into an ultra-health conscious society united to work day and night to shed the pounds off the city’s incredibly engorged butt. Nope, another city just got fatter - simple as that.

Yet, it really comes as no surprise that this community has such a high obesity rate. All you have to do is take a look around at lunchtime and it becomes painfully obvious that the pulse of the fast food nation is beating at the pace of a pending heart attack, right smack dab in the middle of this place we call home.

The sad part is, the majority of people do not understand that what they are eating is ultimately coming back to haunt them in the form of cellulite, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and low self-esteem.

And while it is next to impossible to eat the perfect diet when considering the hectic schedules of our city’s working class, there are some healthier fast food alternatives out there that can help get you through lunch in hurry without adding the weight of pending doom to your problems.

Good luck!
