Support and awareness for ALS, better known as "Lou Gehrig Disease", has been on the rise this year thanks to the Ice Bucket Challenge that went viral over the summer. If dumping a bucket of ice water over you're head wasn't your thing, there's still a way to help raise funds for research while also getting a little exercise.

The Walk to Defeat ALS will take place this Saturday with check-in beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the walk itself beginning at noon. The one-mile fundraising walk will begin and end at Tropicana Casino in downtown Evansville.

To participate, or simply make a donation to the event, visit WalkToDefeatALS.org. Money raised from the event will support critical research and support services provided by the ALS Association Indiana Chapter.
