I cannot help but notice how many parents are taking to social media to blast their children’s teachers for asking for certain supplies and making accusations about their children’s teachers when, according to Forbes, teachers spent an average last year of $513 on their classrooms last year alone. This does not include what the schools supply as well; however, funding is getting more limited than ever and teachers have to be resourceful, especially when they are trying to create and teach innovative, interactive, and interesting lessons for their students.
Let’s face it, after about the 5th month of pregnancy your life is pretty much consumed by your precious, life sucking children. You know you would not have it any other way, but many marriages and partnerships suffer because of it
It was Elizabeth Bishop who said “The art of living isn’t hard to master,” but what about moving on, or yet, starting fresh? As the turn of the year commences a new beginning, a fresh start, where we make promises to ourselves that this year, we will lose the weight, or quit smoking, or just try to become a better person. Over summer break, we work out all summer and try to find a new style, desperately sifting through pins and magazines with tips on how to be the new You. We thrive on the idea of do-overs.
As the summer break comes to a bittersweet end, I am both happy to go back to work teaching and getting my routine back in order, and sad to not be able to spend so much time with my kids. I see how fast they are growing and it feels like when I am at work, I miss so much with them
Fall is showing up slowly in the Evansville area and reminding us about all the wonderful things we love about this time of the year: hoodies, football games, bundling in a blanket at marching band competitions, pumpkin EVERYTHING, jumping in piles of leaves…
Because my mom is a teacher, I grew up knowing the importance of education and the gift I was being given by each one of my teachers. Even though I did not mesh well with a couple of them, I knew that I needed to make sure that I could continue my education after high school and beyond
My daughter, Emmerson, is entering a really fun age. Now, instead of me sitting at a play-place eating French fries and watching her make friends while I small chat with the other moms, dads, and occasional grandmas and grandpas, we like to “go on dates” together. This simply means we go somewhere that we can sit down, chat, and share a meal together and eventually try to catch a cheap movie.
I love to make lists. I make lists every day at work to make sure that I follow through on all of my tasks, I make lists of goals when cleaning the house (my husband dreads these days), and it is even rubbing off on my five year old daughter
Like many women, I have always struggled with my weight; therefore, I also struggled with my self-image. I stopped wearing shorts in the 5th grade because I hated my legs, and it all started from there.
