You may remember the Illinois Tollway issuing several alerts for the very same reason: phony texts and/or emails that seem to be from state government--but aren't. If you follow the instructions in the text/email, you're going to lose some money and give the scammers potentially damaging personal information.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White knows that there's nothing that Illinois residents enjoy more than spending some time waiting in line at Illinois driver's license facilities, but he'd like you to reconsider your next trip there.

The move to digital driver's licenses and digital license plates hasn't happened yet here in Illinois, but a bunch of other states have already jumped on the idea and run with it.
