Evansville, IN School Corporation Announces “Soft Start” Dates for 2024-25
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) is the third-largest school district in Indiana and enrolls more than 23,000 students each year. As the summer draws to a close, those students, along with their parents, and educators are gearing up for the 2024-25 academic year (whether they want to or not). The EVSC has released crucial information to ensure a smooth transition back to school.

The EVSC will once again use the "soft start" method when students return to school in August, which has become standard practice. Using a soft start means smaller groups of students during the first few days of school, allowing them to get more acclimated and for teachers to build better relationships with students.
EVSC's 2024-25 Soft Start Schedule
- Students with last names starting with A-J will attend school on August 5th and 6th
- Students with last names starting with K-Z will attend school on August 7th and 8th
- All students will attend school on August 9th
Of course, when your child's first day of school will be is just one of several pieces of information parents are thinking about and possibly concerned about. I'm sure many parents want to know how their kids will get to and from school, and if there will be before and/or after-school daycare. Meal plans are always a concern for parents, too, as well as how to contact, or stay in touch with their student's teachers.
The good news is, the answers to all of those questions/concerns can be found at EVSCschools.com. And even if you can't find the answer, you can find who to talk to that WILL have an answer for you.
