On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry is inviting you and the rest of the community to come together for an important conversation about animal care and overpopulation in our city. This engaging and impactful event is scheduled from 5:30pm-6:30pm at the CK Newsome Center.

The discussion will bring together a panel of local animal advocates, including representatives from Animal Care & Control, the Vanderburgh Humane Society, PAAWS, and It Takes a Village. These organizations have been working tirelessly to address the nationwide issue of overcrowded shelters, and now they’re teaming up to share how Evansville is making strides to tackle it head-on.

Recently, we saw both the challenges faced by our local animal shelters – as well as the great work they are able to do together – when our Animal Control officers had to pull more than 50 dogs from a single home. But that doesn’t change the fact that we need to address the issue of animal overpopulation in our city. I called this town hall meeting so that our animal shelters, their supporters, and our citizens may all have a voice in how we can move forward to address this critical, national issue on a local level. ~Mayor Terry

This Town Hall will be a chance to hear about the creative solutions these organizations are implementing, from fostering programs to spay-and-neuter initiatives. And, because your voice matters, there will be a Q&A session where you can join the conversation.
