After months of early mornings, late nights, and those hot July band camps where students marched all day in the summer heat, the Indiana high school marching band season is reaching its grand finale.

While some bands have already wrapped up their seasons, a few standout groups from right here in Southwestern Indiana have one performance left – and it’s the biggest show of the year!

Southwestern Indiana Marching Bands Taking the Field

Nine area marching bands have earned their spot in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) State Finals. These students have poured countless hours into perfecting every step, every note, and every dramatic flag toss – and now it all comes down to one incredible performance inside the iconic Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Here’s when you can cheer them on:

Class A

  • Castle Marching Knights – 9:15 PM

Class B

  • F.J. Reitz Mighty Marching Panthers – 1:50 PM
  • Jasper Marching Wildcats – 2:20 PM
  • North Green Brigade – 3:05 PM

Class C

  • Princeton Marching Tigers – 11:15 AM
  • Vincennes Lincoln Pride of the Green – 12:00 PM

Class D

  • South Spencer Marching Rebels – 5:25 PM
  • Mater Dei Marching Wildcats – 5:55 PM
  • Tell City Marching Marksmen – 6:40 PM

If you’ve never been to a marching band competition, this is the one to see! It’s indoors (so no worrying about the weather), it’s in Lucas Oil Stadium (an awesome experience on its own), and it features the very best high school marching bands Indiana has to offer.

30 Bizarre (and Real) Indiana High School Mascots

According to High School.com, there are 682 high schools in Indiana. 555 of those are public schools, while the remaining 127 are private. A majority of those schools have chosen typical mascots to represent them, like eagles, tigers, lions, jets, patriots, and so on and so forth. But, these 30 schools decided to go, well, a different direction.
